Training With Our Armor
When Israelite King Saul decided to allow little shepherd boy David to go out and confront the Philistine giant Goliath, he put his own armor on David for protection, but David could not walk properly in it due to it's great weight and size, so David said, "I cannot go out with this, for I have not trained with this armor." (1 Samuel 17:39)
Far too often as soldiers for Christ, when we consider the armor God has given us (belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the word of God), and which He tells us about in Ephesians 6, do we prefer not to use it because we've not trained with it?
