Bravery

In December 2013, school bus driver Chuck Poland was soon to drop off the last child on his route.  A man he knew approached the bus, so Chuck opened the door.  The man drew a gun out of a paper sack and demanded Chuck turn the last child over to him.  Chuck refused, so the man killed him on the spot.  Bravery.

When the Israelites reached the Promised Land, Moses sent 12 spies into the land, according to God's will.  Ten of the spies said, "There's no way we can take this land."  Two said, "Yes we can; we just have to trust in God."  Bravery.

Under Babylonian/Medo bondage, 4 young men--Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego--refused to obey the king's orders when they conflicted with God's will--even when it seemed everyone else obeyed the king.  Bravery.

Where does Biblical bravery come from?  How can we have it?  This sermon explores that.
