May the Lord Give Strength to His people!

May the Lord bless His people with peace!" Psalm 29:11

"Roman 3"

Quick summary of Rom 1&2

Paul begins this letter with his normal greetings and presents some general truths.
In Chapter 1 verse 18, he warns there is a wrath stored up for ALL unrighteousness. He will convince all of these Jews that they have a problem - that we ALL have wrath stored up for us.
In verse 20, Paul shows us that God has made Himself known to us through His creation. On the day of judgement, no one can say there is No God. We are without excuse.
In verse 21, Although they knew God, they did not honor him or give thanks. When man relied on himself it led to corruption, false doctrine and a lack of truth. They had no fear. We today cannot boast that we are not like the Christians in Romans 1:29-32. We have all sinned.
In Chapter 2, Paul tells us that even those who judge others, condemn themselves. God's judgement comes because of our deeds and our practices. In verse 11, Paul indicates that God is a fair and just judge, he shows no partiality. We are justified or condemned by how we keep the Law. No one has an excuse or a way out. In verse 23, he tells how that all had broken the Law, because they could not keep it perfectly.
All this leads to Chapter 3, where at this point they are wondering what good it was to be a Jew.
1) They were entrusted with God's word v 2
Psalm 147:19-20 - what a gift to know the mind of God.
The problem was that the law could not give life because they could not keep it. We are in the same boat today
2) You received God's law, you broke it, but your unfaithfulness did not break God's promises. vv3-4
3) How does our unrighteousness show God's righteousness? vv7-9 When he passes judgement, because He is fair and keeps His Word.
4) All have sinned and have no fear of God vv10-18
No one can say they've never sinned with their tongue. We all deserve the punishment and we all need the remedy.
5) You are not exempt, you have no excuse. vv 19-20
All will be held accountable.
6) All have sinned, but God has provided a way. v 21
The Law and the Prophets told us that we would be justified by faith.
His Way is not unconditional:
a) for all who believe
b) salvation is a gift
c) must receive it in faith
7) Result of justification vv 27-31
No one can boast because this is a gift that we were saved by own efforts. We are under a law of faith. It is only in Jesus' actions, that we can boast. Nothing we do earns salvation - not baptism or even our faith. Salvation is for everyone through the obedience of faith. Anyone can have faith. The gospel is for ALL. This was the plan all along.
*We all deserve wrath & judgement
* The only way to salvation is through Jesus - he received the punishment we deserved
* God is faithful and keeps His promises.
