BE STILL, The Necessity of Silence
Psalm 46:10
"Cease striving (Be Still) and know that I am God."
Habakkuk 2:20 " But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him."
In our busy lives today, often, we keep the noise going so we don't have to hear the broken crying parts of ourselves.
But there is a necessity in being alone, because this is when we hear God. You cannot listen when you are talking.
I Kings 19:11-13 " ...God was not in the wind...the earthquake...the fire...but in a still small voice..."
-Silence "Centers" Us
*It brings us back to the basics of our senses.
1 Cor 11:28 "Examine Ourselves"
Psalm 4:4-5 "Be Angry and do not Sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds and be silent. Offer right sacrifices and put trust in the Lord."
-Silence "Strengthens" Us
Prov 10:8, 17:28, Eccl 5:1-3
Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you, and you only have to be silent."
Isaiah 40:31 " but they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
-Silence "Fills" Us
Romans 1:20 "His attributes have been MADE visible"
We can KNOW God because:
1 John 4:7 "We know love, because God IS love."
Hebrews 4:1-3 "God GAVE us His word."
Psalm 29:11 "He gives peace and strength to His people who hear Him."
The illusion is that life will fill the void where God belongs in our lives. We will fill it with work, activity, drugs, alcohol, sex, power.
Psalm 34:17-19 "God HEARS us."
Habakkuk 2:20 "The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him."
Sometimes God stills the storm for His child; sometimes He stills the storm within His child.
Will we be still and silent to know when He is here, when He is speaking to us?
Will you continue to fight the battle alone?
Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent."
