The Tell Tale Signs of a Genuine Faith... A Look at Abraham

Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Do we have a Genuine Faith?
A true faith will prompt obedience.

The Mark of Faith's Experience
Faith is made through an individual choice Heb. 11:8
A faith that does not obey is a faith that cannot save. When God called Abraham, the only thing He asked for was obedience.
The Mark of Faith's Expressions
A - Faith lived in God's Path
Abraham went out not knowing where he was going. Heb. 11:8
The steps of a good man are ordered in His way.
B - Faith looked for God's Promises
Abraham followed God's direction in answer to the promises to Isaac and Jacob. Heb. 11:9
C - Faith leaned on God's Providence
When we study Abraham, we see faith in action. Faith is lacking in our times of disobedience.
The Mark of Faith's Expectations
A - Faith Expects a Heavenly Hope
Abraham knew the hope of God's promise of something better.
1 Peter 1:3 God has given us a lively hope by the resurrection of Christ from the dead.
B- Faith Expects a Heavenly Home
Heb 11:10 Abraham was looking forward to a city whose designer & builder is God.
-looks for a Prepared Home "Builder and Maker"
-looks for a Perfect Home "God"
-looks for a Permanent Home "Foundations"
Genuine faith renders obedience, has an expectation of a heavenly hope, and will not allow us to settle down in this world.
Abraham had a genuine faith. Yes, he made mistakes but God uses those of us who have fallen short.
